WAREPAK/400 manages the receiving process by identifying incoming product and maximizing the utilization of warehouse storage. The processes that identify and analyze incoming product include inbound carrier appointments, ASN management, and cross-dock planning. Processes that control and maximize the utilization of warehouse storage include putaway generation (which determines the optimal warehouse location for the received product) and putaway verification.
The flexibility of WAREPAK/400 allows receiving to be performed manually using generated putaway tickets and/or with the use of the RF automated real-time system. With the use of either option the warehouse operator is able to recognize and correct receiving discrepancies.
Inbound Analysis
Inbound analysis involves the process of identifying incoming receipts through a form of electronic data transmission or manual entry. The next phase encompasses scheduling the arrival and recording the receiving agenda (product onboard) of inbound deliveries. WAREPAK/400 not only allows office personnel to perform these processes, but it also provides scheduling tools to document inbound carrier appointments.
Receiving Order Header Summary
WAREPAK/400 provides a continuous on-line summary of all inbound orders. The detail of each order can be accessed with one keystroke. In addition, a pop-up window displays a listing of all expected receipts and ASNs. The inbound summary information lists the following order identification numbers: receiving warehouse and door, order, carrier vehicle ID\No, shipping location and date, and the employee ID of the person that (will) unload the order. Additional informational flags are provided to aid the office personnel during the receiving process.
These flags identify the following areas: putaway generation, RF, time entry, receipt edit (receiving verification report), and variance. The order detail lists SKU, code date, serial number, quantity, UOM (unit of measure) and product status.
Within the receiving process WAREPAK/400 provides and/or performs the following supplementary processes:
- Bill of Lading (ASN) Processing - The system can manually process bills of lading or receive them via ASN through the Receipt Bill of Lading Entry option.
- Cross Docking - Opportunities can be evaluated through a quick display inventory by SKU, code date and quantity via a pop-up window.
- Real-Time Inventory Updating - As the warehouse operator receives inventory using RF and scans a storage location bar code identifier, inventory is concurrently updated.
- Manual Paper Based Inventory Updating - WAREPAK/400 has the flexibility to manually update receipts if Radio Frequency is not utilized within the warehouse environment.
- Warehouse Transaction Audit Trail - With each RF movement procedure, WAREPAK/400 records a single line stamp with the time, date, employee ID, warehouse location, product (bar code) label number(s), SKU, code date and quantity of the product that was handled.
- On-Line Inquiry and Reporting - Inquiry (detail display) capability is made available on every screen. Various types of reports can be generated from the receipt information.
- Product Status Flexibility - This includes: Ship, Hold, Quality Testing, Incubation, etc.
- Lot Number Control - Lot number tracking is available through each phase of receiving, inventory storage and shipping.
- QA Sampling - Inventory can be sampled and tested at any time in conjunction with quality assurance procedures. When the Quality Control Testing flag is set, the SKU status is changed to "QT" and assigned a central storage location when it is received.
- EDI Receipt Verification - Receipt verification information can be transmitted to the supplier/vendor identifying any receiving discrepancies.
- Yard Management Integration - Truck (trailer) lot activity can be tracked identifying the date placed in lot, vehicle ID\No., loaded or empty, inbound or outbound, warehouse, supplier and order.
- Event Tracking - WAREPAK/400 provides the ability to track transportation carrier events (appointment, arrival and departure, etc.) After the carrier leaves the facility, the tracking information is stored in a history file for future audit trail purposes.
