SHIPPING
WAREPAK/400 manages the shipping processes by identifying, planning and analyzing the handling of inventory within the warehouse to fulfill all shipping order requirements. WAREPAK/400 provides the tools and flexibility to organize and balance shipping activities to achieve accurate, timely and cost-effective levels of operation.
WAREPAK/400 performs shipping activities via RF and/or terminals, with the ability to print Pick & Load Tickets as needed. The system generates shipping documents such as Bill of Lading, Packing Slip, and Master Bill of Lading (contains all SKU and shipment information for combined truck loads).
Outbound Analysis
The first aspect of outbound planning is the process of identifying shipment orders through a form of EDI or manual entry. The next phase consists of scheduling traffic appointments along with recording shipment agendas. WAREPAK/400 supports these processes and also provides tools to manage (record) outbound carrier appointments, specifying the arrival date and time of the transportation carrier to the warehouse location.
Shipping Order Header Summary and Detail
WAREPAK/400 provides a (real-time) (on-line) summary of all outbound orders. The order detail is quickly accessible with one keystroke. The outbound summary information lists the following identification numbers and codes: Purchase Order Status, Consignee, Loading Warehouse, Supplier and Requested Ship Date.
Additional informational flags are provided to aid the office personnel during the shipping process. These flags identify that the following documents have been printed: Staging, Partial and Full Unit Ticket Listings, Pick & Load Tickets, Bill of Lading and Packing Slip.
The order detail lists the following items: SKU, Quantity Ordered, UOM, Pick Sequence, Product and Order Status, Quantity Allocated, Staged, Reserved, and Picked. The order detail also displays a total line for the quantity columns.
During the shipping process WAREPAK/400 also provides and/or performs the following supplementary processes:
- EDI Shipment Verification - WAREPAK/400 has the ability to receive and transmit order verification information to the supplier.
- Pre-Cut Notifications - The system identifies product that is not available for shipping orders based on inventory availability and consignee requirements. With this information, a shortage report is generated listing product that may need to be cut.
- Operations Planning - Office staff is given the ability to perform several shipping tasks from a central location. These processes include: plan and assign labor; assign warehouse doors; check-in carriers; submit orders to RF Labor Management, Traffic Logbook and the Order Header Summary; allocate or de-allocate product; reserve or un-reserve product; and view product quantities.
- Automated Order Allocations - Scheduled allocations can be made at various times throughout the day. The system will automatically allocate product for all orders within the specified user defined hour ranges based upon ship date or appointment date.
- Order Reservation - Orders can be reserved entirely or on a line-by-line basis. Users can also force inventory to be reserved from specific storage locations.
- Bar Code Location and Door Validation - With the usage of RF, all pick and door locations are verified by the scanning of license bar codes. This process provides more accurate SKU picking and loading.
- Inquiry and Reporting - Every WAREPAK/400 screen has the capability to display line item detail. Various reports can be generated from the shipment detail.
- Event Tracking - WAREPAK/400 provides the ability to track transportation carrier events (appointment, arrival and departure, etc.) After the carrier leaves the facility, the tracking information is stored in a history file for future audit trail purposes.
